Paula Soto Maior is Tina's business partner.
She is available to speak with regarding her mosaics at: (814) 227-5667. If you prefer to write her, please do it to: psotomaior@gmail.com.
Since childhood that puzzles were her favourite game. Later on, visiting a museum, where the Crown of Spain had some antique furniture exposed, she stumbled upon a beautiful mosaic table made of semi precious gems. It stuck to her memory for ever.
In 1995, after a career of film, video and theatre production, she travelled a lot (Brazil, India, Mexico, Europe and UK) developing her skills into languages and interpretation. She finally settled in Roaring Spring, PA.
She has been studying Vedic Philosophy and what you are hearing now is a video on some of the ideas and ideals of this philosophy, given by His Holiness Bhakti Tirtha Swami.
MOSAICS

Some of Paula's first works.
The 1st one is a very small clear glass candle holder. The color glass was glued behind it, but with too little glue. When grouted, the grout enter under the mosaic... Lesson #1.
The 2nd one was a broken 15" X 15" chinese painting. A sort of abstract composition with a dark blue mirroed glass, which color is processed on top. When cleaned after grouted, the color started to wash away... Lesson #2.
The 3rd one it's one of those $2 jars you purchase at the thrift stores. This one was pink and was topped with clear irregular glass, mirroed glass and regular light pink glass. When grouted it took for ever to wash it away from the clear irregular glass... Lesson #3.
The one on the left is a 15" X 10" stool, and the first reverse method trial. The dark blue tiles were thicker than the colored glass and that was the challenge. With a thick mix of grout and adhesive it was possible to balance the differenceThe one on the right it's a 12" X 10" picture frame. It was grouted with sanded grout. Sand scratches glass... Nevertheless, is much more resistant, stainless and workable.
These 2 mirrors of 3 feet diameter each were made to match a wooden panel, which the grout imitates.

On the left, the first planter. On the right, the last one.
